A £26m Mersey ferry took to the river for the first time yesterday equipped with a pump set specified and supplied by Westin Pumps.
The Royal Daffodil, the river's first new ferry in more than 60 years, emerged from Cammell Laird’s giant construction hall on the banks of the Mersey.

Sales director, Stuart Metcalfe, says: 'Cammell Laird contacted us last year to say they had been commissioned to build a ferry for Liverpool.
'They wanted us to be involved with the supply of all the engine room pumping equipment. Garbarino Pumps – we are the UK distributor – was involved from the start.
'After the exchange of many technical emails, we were in a position to submit our proposals. Three days later we received the order in full. We were delighted.'
In addition to the Garbarino pumps, Westin Pumps was pleased to supply the Royal Daffodil with an AdBlue pump from Prominent.
In a 24-hour operation, the Royal Daffodil was moved to the river’s edge to allow the incoming tide to float the vessel for the first time. She will then be tugged to the shipyard’s test basin where engineers will carry out further work ahead of full sea trials early next year.
